It was so was amazing to be invited to photograph Megan and Stephen’s unique outdoor humanist wedding at South Farm. South Farm is situated on the Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire border and only a stone’s through away from where I’m based in Ely, so it’s in an ideal location for me to travel to. I love photographing weddings at South Farm. South Farm is a really pretty wedding venue – the yellow farm house is stunning! I arrived at the venue in the morning and it looked like it was going to rain in a spectacular manner. However, I was really happy when the rain clouds departed and the sun started to shine, which meant the wedding ceremony could be held outdoors in the pretty gardens and summer house. The summer house was decorated with wonderful colourful lanterns and this together with the beautiful floral displays made for a very pretty scene indeed. There was a lovely atmosphere and all the guests excited to see sunshine and couple were so happy their ceremony would be outdoors. Megan and Stephen has chosen to have a humanist wedding. I love to capture humanist weddings! I really enjoy the freedom couples enjoy reciting their own vowels and being able to choose the way they want to organise the ceremony. It was lovely to see that the guests were invited to take part, by wishing the couple well for the future.
It’s always fun discovering more about a couple and their relationship. Megan is a librarian and so the wedding has a literature theme, and it was fun to spot a few of my favourite books a centre pieces for the tables in the tudor barn. It was also lovely to see guests taking books home to read. I love the idea of a wedding breakfast “lending library”, where Megan could show her passion for books. I really enjoyed capturing the story of the day from getting ready in the morning until the first dance in the evening. It was special to capture the lovely moments as the day unfolds. Thank you Megan and Stephen, and also thank you South Farm for an amazing day!
