Jesus College Wedding Photography

It was amazing to photograph K and A’s beautiful wedding in Cambridge earlier this year and it was especially brilliant being back at Jesus College again. This was to be my first wedding shoot of 2024, and I was excited to get started. I’m a local relaxed wedding photographer-based in Cambridgeshire and as such I photograph many weddings in the colleges at Cambridge University. Jesus college is one of my favourite colleges to photograph weddings because of its beautiful architecture, gardens and cloisters.

The day began by capturing a few bride & groom prep photos in the student rooms at Jesus College followed by photos of the groom and groomsman making their way through central Cambridge to Holy Trinity church, where the very emotional wedding ceremony took place. After photographing lots or documentary photos of the wedding ceremony it was time for everyone to make their way to Jesus College. We were so very fortunate that the weather remained dry long enough so that the whole wedding party could travel to Jesus college on foot.  However, the forecast rain soon began in the middle of the confetti run which took place in the very famous passageway at Jesus called The Chimney. The initial wedding drinks reception was held in the library followed by a beautiful wedding breakfast in the ornate main hall where the joyful wedding speeches were held. The wedding day ended with lots of dancing in the student bar in West Court.

I received this wonderful review from the couple “We are delighted with Lucy’s work! She photographed our wedding a few weeks ago and was a total joy to work with throughout. We had two consultations with Lucy before the big day and we were grateful to be able to draw on her expertise when considering the plan for the day’s photographs. On the day itself, she was fantastic – she captured all of the key moments, and lots more, but we hardly noticed her moving around, meaning the photos were beautifully natural. When we received the photo gallery a couple of weeks after the wedding, we could not have been happier with the variety and quality of the photos. Both the formal and documentary-style pictures were amazing, and the gallery as a whole really tells the story of the day. We would absolutely recommend Lucy without hesitation.”

Here are a few of my favourite photos of the day, highlighting my relaxed documentary wedding photography style. I work in an unobtrusive manner, capturing the day as it unfolds. I enjoy capturing the unexpected and no wedding is ever the same.
