Ely Wedding Photographer | The Old Hall Ely

Ely Wedding Photographer | Kirsty and Ben

Ely Wedding Photographer for Kirsty and Ben’s wedding at The Old Hall Ely.

I was so happy to be asked to be Kirsty and Ben’s Ely Wedding Photographer for my local wedding venue, The Old Hall. I’m so proud of my home city, the beautiful Cathedral City of Ely is a fantastic place to live and I love shooting weddings at The Old Hall. When I met Kirsty and Ben I immediately felt that my photography would be a good fit for their wedding day. Firstly, I’m an Ely Wedding Photographer as I live in Ely, which means I’m only stone’s throw away from The Old Hall. Also I thought we were a good match because they were looking natural and relaxed photography. My photography style has a natural and relaxed documentary photograph approach, capturing moments and the spirit of the day.

The Engagement shoot.

I had a chance to meet Kirsty and Ben before the wedding during their engagement shoot. This took place in Wandlebury Country park and the shoot also included their little boy.  Therefore their engagement shoot was really a fun family shoot. It’s really great when couples opt for an engagements shoot as it means that they can get used being photographed. This means they are more relaxed about photos on the big day itself. Also it allows me to hear more about their wedding day preparations and ideas for the day.

The Wedding Day.

The wedding was in May 2017 and it was a glorious sunny day. The whole day was captured at the venue, from bridal preparation until the first dance. As the sun was shining it meant the ceremony could be conducted outdoors in the gazebo overlooking the fields and the Cathedral in the distance. After the emotional wedding ceremony, the couple greeted their guests and also they were all entertained by a magician. We had some time for portraits before the start of the wedding breakfast.

The wedding speeches were very moving and it was amazing to capture the atmosphere in the room. It was a lovely relaxed day, guests mingled and chatted with each other having a lovely time. Soon it was time for cutting the cake and the first dance. In the early evening there was a lovely sunset and it was great to take advantage of the evening light. I just love the golden hour as the light helps create amazing photos.

Thanks so much to the lovely Kirsty and Ben for allowing me to capture your special wedding day. It was amazing to be the photographer for their Ely wedding. I wish you all the best!
Here are my favourite images from the day and you can view more of my wedding photography in my wedding blog and wedding galleries.
