I really enjoy photographing weddings at Granary Barns in Suffolk. Granary Barns is wonderful venue. I’m based in Ely, which is only a short journey away, so the location makes it ideal for me to photograph lots of weddings at Granary Barns. I love this wedding venue because of the rustic feel, the vintage decor and the really pretty gardens. I’m always excited to capture a wedding story at Granary Barns and was excited when Kim and Dave asked me to be their wedding photographer. I had such an amazing day capturing Kim and Dave’s special day. The day began with capturing all the fun of groom prep at their home, followed by the bridal prep at Ivy Cottage which is beside the wedding venue. I love capturing wedding preparations, I find there is so much excitement and anticipation to capture – it’s a really emotional time especially when the father of the bride arrives to escort his daughter to the ceremony. I like to capture all the details and I loved Kim’s beautiful organza wedding dress and really ornate shoes! I also enjoy capturing the fun and banter going on during the groom prep. Dave was really relaxed and looking forward to the special day ahead.
The decor for the wedding day was beautiful, a lovely warm colour theme. I loved Kim’s artisan bouquet of orange Cala Lillies. Kim and Dave’ s wedding was full of unique details, such as a cleverly designed jig saw puzzle for guests to write a message on each puzzle piece. I captured their wedding story from the preparations right up until the first dance. It was an amazing day, so much emotion and laughter to capture. The ceremony was really moving, the speeches really entertaining and the first dance absolutely brilliant with Kim giving Dave twirl! The surrounding grounds were perfect for the wedding portraits and the surrounding lush countryside was stunning. On this particular sunny day there is was a beautiful sunset. So it fun to get some extra portraits using the amazing fenland sky! I finished the photography story just as the guests were relaxing toasting marsh mellows over the fire. Perfection!
