In Late March, I photographed Danielle and Jack’s wonderful spring wedding at Anstey Hall Cambridge. I’m so grateful to this lovely couple for allowing me to capture their special day.I love photographing weddings at Anstey Hall because it is so beautiful. The interiors are so opulent! I knew it would be amazing to photograph the bride getting ready in the beautiful bridal suite, with golden decor and capture the ceremony in the colourful ball room.
I’m a documentary wedding photographer for a large part of the capturing natural moments as they unfold. Anstey Hall was buzzing with excitement and it was an epic experience to be able to capture the spirit of the day. The ceremony was held in the upstairs ball room, which was a stunning backdrop for a very joyous ceremony. After the ceremony, the happy couple were greeted by all their guests outside the hall, in front of the famous red door for a beautiful confetti moment.
We were so lucky that the rain held off, and we only experienced little bit of drizzle. It was great that the couple had brought their own yellow umbrellas which looked great in their group photos and couples portraits. The colours also matched the lovely spring theme chosen for the day.
The wedding breakfast was held in the marquee and it was fun to document the hilarious speeches and all the reactions. The evening reception was held in the main hall, a first dance followed by lots of happy guests dancing the night away. There was little bit of time for some evening portraits, which were a perfect “book end” to their wedding story. The day was amazing and I was so happy to be able to capture their wedding day and it was so brilliant to have a lovely response to the gallery. Danielle and Jack were so kind to write the following testimonial:
“We were originally drawn to Lucy by her style of photography. Everyone seemed so at ease in the pictures and the moments she captured resonated even without knowing the subjects themselves. They were beautiful without exception.
For our own day we were both a little nervous about the photography element, we do not naturally “perform” for a camera, an experience I am sure shared by most couples. The nerves were unfounded, most of our pictures were captured without staging and were simply exceptional. I barely noticed the photography through the day, but both Lucy and her colleague had a knack for being around when I wanted to quickly capture a group shot off the cuff.
We LOVE our photos, and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Lucy has exceptional vision and a true talent for capturing the mood. In the end, the finished photos don’t feel like they are in Lucy’s style, they feel like they capture ours, which is a truly amazing gift to have.”
These are my favourite images from the day!
